thyssenkrupp Opens High Speed Test Tower in China

An industry leading testing tower

We have recently opened our High Speed Test Tower in China. It stands 248 metres tall, which is 31 floors above the ground and is one of the tallest test towers in the world. It will allow us to show continued strength in leading elevator innovation.

The new tower will be used to test new concepts and trial product pilots. New products such as our high-speed elevator that will reach speeds of 18 metres per second, we will also be testing our rope-less elevator system, MULTI, the world’s first rope-free elevator.

Our first international test tower was chosen to be located in China as there are 500,000 units being installed each year, and is an exciting country to start our international testing in. The tower is located in Zhongshan.

Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator said: "It is always our ambition to be close to our customers, and the testing process is important to ensure we can flex to what people really want and need. China is an exciting territory to be operating in, with as many as 500,000 units being installed each year - so it was a natural choice to build our first international test tower there."
